PLAYING AMERICA. 2015. Limited edition of 3.

Hahnemüehle FineArt Baryta 325 gsm, 100% α-Cellulose, bright white, high-gloss.

Ironic presentation is paired with a miniaturized super realism. Each toy has a certain crisp intactness and functions as a metaphor for artificial perfection. A key motif in this work is the presentation of images that respond to and evoke the inauthenticity of advertising and gender roles, concepts of nationhood and more. Nevertheless, while there are certainly recognizable themes, the viewer’s response can be varied, reflecting their own experience of culture, consumerism, self-identity, and socially-inscribed meanings.

Using quotes from the psychological 1948 Sacks Test, we overlapped the text with images of Miami, imbued with a sense of nostalgic style.
